The Dutch Oven
100 Blues Alley Ln
Open Mon-Friday 10am-3pm. Lunch 11am to 2pm. SPECIAL Festival Hours Saturday 8:30 til.
The Dutch Oven opened in 2003, specializing in quality baked goods in the tradition of its Mennonite proprietors - just another facet of Clarksdale’s diverse community. It is housed in a circa 1927 passenger train depot in the heart of Blues Alley and managed to secure its place in the hearts of locals and out-of-towners alike. Doors open each weekday at 10 a.m. to the decadent scent of freshly baked breads, homemade cakes and pies that puts an extra spring in your step on a hot summer day. During the lunch hour, the small cafe is teeming with a hungry crowd craving an easy lunch of sandwiches, soups and salads. Don’t be fooled by the simple menu. Southern sandwich staples such as pimento cheese (pronounced around here as "pa-minna") or the best-seller chicken salad comes on a choice of butter corn bread (croissant), Panini, wheat or rye and can be paired with a savory soup like Forage (cheese with ham, carrots and potatoes), Cream of Broccoli or a garden salad.
